PC Applicant Resources

First Congratulations on embarking on the Peace Corps process!

I am not great at giving advice, but I am the type of person who benefits from examples. I was so overwhelmed with tasks like the aspiration statement and packing, that I did not know where to start.

The following pages are meant to provide a starting point. Every country, program, and applicant is unique and my process may not apply to your experience. Also, I know my timeline is scary, but it was on the old application process (before July 2014). My intent for including it was to let other applicants who may experience medical pre-clearence and restrictions that they are not alone (because I felt very alone at times).

My Timeline

Also If you get frustrated feel free to sing the below adapted application ballad. It lightens the mood!

If you change your mind, I’m the first in line.
Peace Corps, I’m still free
Take a chance on me.
If you need me let me know
I’m gonna be around

If there are no trainees to go, if applications are down
If Placement is alone when all the volunteers have sworn in
Peace Corps,  I’m still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and I cannot lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Take a chance on me
(That’s all I ask of you Peace Corps)
Take a chance on me
